Zao Shen is one of the Gods who meets to discuss the Apocalypse. He is in favor of killing the Winchester brothers, aparently not knowing they can be resurected by the angels. He holds his belief in the World Turtle very highly and gets defensive when Odin mocks it.
He is later seen carving up one of the hotel guests in the lobby with a meat cleaver.
Later he is killed by Dean in the hotel kitchen.
Zao Shen in Lore
Zao Shen, or Zao Jun, is the Kitchen God of Chinese folk religion and mythology. He is a very important domestic God. (his name meaning "Stove God" for Zao Shen, or "Stove Master"/"Lord Stove" for Zao Jun) as each year he makes a report to the Jade Emperor of Heaven on the activity of every household in China. The Jade Emperor either rewards or punishes based on Zao Shen's reports. Note that in lore, Zao Shen like sweet food like candy instead of human sacrifice as shown in Supernatural.
