Episodes
5.19 Hammer of the Gods
Zao Shen and a number of other gods meet up to discuss the Apocalypse at the Elysian Fields Hotel. He proclaims that they should just kill the vessels of Michael and Lucifer and be done with it. He gets defensive when Odin mocks his beliefs. He is later seen carving up one of the hotel guests in the lobby with a meat cleaver. He is then killed by Dean.
Zao Shen in Lore
Zao Shen, or Zao Jun, is the Kitchen god of Chinese folk religion and mythology. He is a very important domestic god (his name meaning "Stove God" for Zao Shen, or "Stove Master"/"Lord Stove" for Zao Jun), as each year, he makes a report to the Jade Emperor of Heaven on the activity of every household in China. The Jade Emperor either rewards or punishes based on Zao Shen's reports. Note that in lore, Zao Shen likes sweet food such as candy instead of human sacrifice as shown in Supernatural.
