Weekly World News

The Weekly World News (WWN) is a mock tabloid newspaper published by American Media Inc. It was launched in 1979, and uses the slogan: "Nothing but the truth: The Weekly World News!" Based on the headlines, however, it seems many stories are intended as jokes. The WWN never publicly questioned the accuracy of its own stories until 2004, when the paper began stating that "the reader should suspend disbelief for the sake of enjoyment".

Pad of Definitions (2.15 Tall Tales), Official Website

2.15 Tall Tales was promoted in Weekly World News, February 19, 2007. Scans of the article are below, thanks to shinetastic. You can also find the issue in the Weekly World News online archive. There was also a two part 'interview' with Sam and Dean on the Weekly World News web site.

The publication is also referenced in 2.03 Bloodlust, when Sam and Dean pretend, not very well, to be reporters from the paper as they investigate a series of murders and cattle mutilations. And while the real WWN ceased publication in 2007, it is seen again in 5.07 The Curious Case of Dean Winchester with the headline "The Apocalypse is here!" and also appears when Sam's hallucination of Lucifer is seen reading a copy in 7.02 Hello, Cruel World.
