Weekly World News

The Weekly World News (WWN) is a mock tabloid newspaper published by American Media Inc. It was launched in 1979, and uses the slogan: "Nothing but the truth: The Weekly World News!" Based on the headlines, however, it seems many stories are intended as jokes. The WWN never publicly questioned the accuracy of its own stories until 2004, when the paper began stating that "the reader should suspend disbelief for the sake of enjoyment".

Pad of Definitions (2.15 Tall Tales), Official Website

2.15 Tall Tales was promoted in Weekly World News on February 19, 2007. Scans of the article are below, thanks to shinetastic. You can also find the cover of the issue in the Weekly World News online archive. There was also a two-part 'interview' with Sam and Dean on the Weekly World News web site.

2.03 Bloodlust

Sam and Dean pretend, not very well, to be reporters from Weekly World News as they investigate a series of murders and cattle mutilations.

Sheriff: What newspaper did you say you worked for?
Dean: World Weekly News.
Sam: Weekly World News.
Dean: World...
Sam: Weekly World News.
Dean: Wor... I'm new.
Sheriff: Get out of my office.

2.15 Tall Tales

The Trickster reads a Weekly World News article about a cannibal wielding a chainsaw, and later creates this cannibal to fight Sam, Dean, and Bobby.

5.07 The Curious Case of Dean Winchester

Despite the fact that the real WWN ceased publication of hard copy issues in 2007, it is seen again with the headline: "The Apocalypse is here!"

6.09 Clap Your Hands If You Believe...

The front page of Weekly World News can be seen behind Wayne Whittaker taped to the side of his camper van in the U.F.O. followers' camp with the headline: "An Alien Made Me It's Love Slave".

7.02 Hello, Cruel World

Hallucifer is seen reading a copy.

8.04 Bitten

Michael Wheeler is seen reading a copy with the headline 'YOUR DOCTOR COULD BE AN ALIEN!', a possible reference to Doctor Who.

8.16 Remember the Titans

Sam finds a case, in a Weekly World News issue, of a seemingly dead man coming back to life after being hit by a car. The headline of the story reads, 'HUMAN ROAD-KILL TURNS ZOMBIE'. Other articles in the newspaper include one about a polar bear attacking a nuclear submarine at the North Pole, and one about an alien's skeleton being discovered.
