War is one of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse.

His arrival is fortold in the Bible to be proceeded by portents, which Dean reads from revelation 8:10 in 5.02 Good God Y'All: "and there fell a great star from heaven, burning like a torch, and it fell upon the river, and the name of the star was wormwood. And many men died."

He drives a red Mustang: see War's Mustang

Like demons, he can possesses a human to manifest. He can alter people's perception of reality

5.02 Good God Y'All

War arrives in River Pass, Colorado, killing and taking on the body of a guy called Roger. He makes the townspeople think their neighbors are being possessed by demons. He confronts Sam and says he can tell how much Sam still lusts after the power he had. Sam and Dean eventually figure out he uses the ring he wears to induce hallucinations and cut off his finger with the ring, which breaks his spell over the townspeople. However, War escapes along with his red Mustang.
