Hi, I don't know how to use these Talk pages, so this is experimental, but I like to keep the transcripts in standard American English - so "caroling" was correct, as was "all right", as was the punctuation in a couple of spots. --zebra363

I don't spoil myself for episode titles, so I don't know which episode "Party On, Garth" is. If it's tomorrow's, you can do it if you want, or I'll do this one since I have plenty of free time this weekend, and you take the next one (April 20) when I'll be overseas!

Re the punctuation issue, every American style guide I can find says periods and commas should always go inside the quote marks, even in cases such as: My mother's name is "Rita." (An example from one of the sites.) I think it may be done differently in the UK, but as I said I try to keep the transcripts to American English. (I'm Australian myself.) If you can find me a well-regarded American style guide that says the period should go on the outside, I'll do it that way! Most American authorities seem to consider "all right" preferable to the alternative, so I'm sticking with that one, I'm afraid.

Thanks for identifying those Cas flashback scenes. I've been thinking that I'd like to try to fill in the blanks in the Swan Song flashbacks, but they're hard!

In the United States, periods and commas go inside quotation marks regardless of logic.

In the United Kingdom, Canada, and islands under the influence of British education, punctuation around quotation marks is more apt to follow logic. In American style, then, you would write: My favorite poem is Robert Frost's "Design." But in England you would write: My favorite poem is Robert Frost's "Design".

I totally agree with you that the latter makes more sense, but since it's an American show I try to do things the American way. (Though if you read the first few transcripts I did, they're full of Australianisms that I'll go back and fix one of these days!) --Zebra363 05:28, 30 March 2012 (PDT)
