The Bible
Your Bible gets more wrong than it does right.
The Bible generally refers to the texts of Judaism and Christianity. The main direct references in Supernatural to the Bible relate to the prophecy regarding the Apocalypse in the Book of Revelation, which is the last book in the Christian New Testament.

4.02 Are You There, God? It's Me, Dean Winchester
While being attacked by ghosts from their past, Bobby is able to deduce the brands on the spirits represent the Mark of the Witness. He tells Sam and Dean that due to the spirits being witness to the unnatural, which led to their deaths, they have been branded and factor into a prophecy known as the Rise of the Witnesses. He reveals that the prophecy comes from the Book of Revelation and is a sign of the Apocalypse.
5.02 Good God, Y'All
While trying to figure out what is happening in River Pass, Colorado, where the river became polluted and a shooting star appeared the day before the town fell under siege from demons, Dean quotes this line of scripture from Revelation 8:10:
- "And there fell a great star from heaven, burning like a torch, and it fell upon the river, and the name of the star was Wormwood. And many men died."
With the help of a pastor, Dean learns that the omens are a prelude to the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse, specifically War.
5.06 I Believe the Children Are Our Future
Castiel tells the Winchesters that the Bible gets more wrong than right, and that the Antichrist isn't Lucifer's child but rather a demon spawn. The Bible never actually names the Antichrist as Lucifer's child, that is more an interpretation of popular culture.
5.10 Abandon All Hope...
Bobby is looking through a Holy Bible to discover what Lucifer is planning in Carthage, Missouri.
5.15 Dead Men Don't Wear Plaid
Bobby reads through Revelation to explain how the dead are rising in Sioux Falls.
- 'And through the fire stood before me a pale horse. And he that sat atop him carried a scythe, and I saw since he had risen, they, too, shall rise, and from him and through him.'
They soon realize that Death is raising the dead to send a message to Bobby through his dead wife Karen Singer.
7.10 Death's Door
In Bobby's subconscious, he remembers that he hid a cross in an old King James Bible.
12.08 LOTUS
While in possession of President Jefferson Rooney, Lucifer is forced to lead a group prayer after the death of a Secret Service agent. Gripping a Bible in one hand, Lucifer's anger at having to pray causes heat to emanate from him.
Later when trying to convince Kelly Kline that President Rooney is actually Lucifer and her Nephilim child is an abomination in the eyes of Heaven, Castiel has Kelly place her hand on a Bible, which instantly bursts into flames.
13.02 The Rising Son
When stopping at a motel for some rest before getting back to the Men of Letters Bunker, Dean tosses Jack a Bible as an alternative to watching cartoons. Jack opens the book and begins reading. Later, while eating dinner, Jack tells Sam and Dean he noticed that the book mentioned his father, Lucifer, in it. He begins questioning them about how they know his father as well as God, whom he realizes is his grandfather.
13.11 Breakdown
Sheriff Donna Hanscum quotes this line from Luke 7:30 to a preacher suspected of abducting her niece, Wendy Hanscum:
- "But the Pharisees and the lawyers rejected God’s purpose for themselves, not having been baptized by John."
13.13 Devil's Bargain
Lucifer lies on a motel bed looking through a Bible, scoffing at all the things it has wrong, and wondering if anyone fact-checked it. He also reveals that God had stolen some of his best lines.
13.15 A Most Holy Man
When Santino Scarpatti talk to Sam and Dean in his estate, a Holy Bible can be seen on a pedestal on a table in front of the Winchesters.
14.17 Game Night
Donatello leaves Dean a voicemail pleading for help, quoting a line from the Bible in ancient Hebrew:
- "Hith-'o-rehr, shqodh ki'o-yivkha has-sa-tan, k'ar-yeh sho-'ehgh, mith-hal-lehkh, u-mvaq-qehsh 'eth asher yval-leha'."
Later, Sam realizes that Donatello's message comes from Peter 5:8:
- "Be sober, be vigilant, because your adversary the Devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour."
14.19 Jack in the Box
Learning that Jack killed a corrupt televangelist by having the earth open up beneath her feet and swallow her, Castiel recognizes the act as biblical, stating:
- "'And the Earth opened her mouth and swallowed them up, and their houses, and all of the men that appertained unto Korah.' It's Numbers 26:10."
Later, when Jack plans to take a Bible study group to Heaven to become angels, he attacks the pastor and causes worms to come from cuts in his flesh, to prevent him from interfering in Heaven's work. Visiting the pastor in the hospital, Castiel once again recognizes the attack as biblical:
- "Immediately an angel of the Lord struck him down, because he did not give God the glory, and he was eaten by worms and breathed his last."
15.17 Unity
A group of angels approach Chuck in Heaven's Throne Room, carrying bibles and asking for his autograph, though he quickly gets agitated and snaps them away.
15.19 Inherit the Earth
At the church, a bible can be seen among the various biblical texts Michael has been studying to understand the humans' perception of God, surprised that his efforts in creating the Abrahamic religions were more effective than he realized.
