Changed the part about John in Hell, Somebody had written that John had given in to Alastair's offer, this is false, John had escaped from hell before Alastair could break him. It was Dean who broke the first seal, meaning John could not have given into Alastair's offer. "And it is written that the first seal shall be broken when a righteous man sheds blood in hell. As he breaks, so shall it break."

"Some demons appear to be able to move freely between Hell and the mortal realm eg Azazel, Alastair." Also there has never been any evidence to support that Azazel has or ever had the ability to travel freely between Hell and Earth. --Escura 03:34, 25 January 2010 (UTC)

I intelligently predict that following the deaths of Azazel and Crowley, Samhain will soon assume leadership over Hell - He's a very powerful entity that can ONLY leave Hell through a summoning ritual that involves blood sacrifices all of which must take place on October 31st. Does anyone else agree? I can't think of any other demon besides Samhain right now that has showed the strength and the stature to take over Hell, other than Azazel, Crowley, Lilith, and possibly even Alastair, all of which are dead. -- Anderson54, December 6th 2010

Removed this: Hell has nine circles, the ninth of which is Lucifer's Cage.^{Interview with Sera Gamble}. If this refers to this interview, she actually refers to Lucifer's Cage as Cage as being "at the bottom of the lowest depths of the ninth circle of the worst bit of Hell." which i think is a bit of hyperbole to describe how difficult the cage is to reach. I've edited this a bit to remove some deuplicaiton and also speculation, and some concepts of Hell that are common in Christian ideas of Hell, but not necessarily true in Supernatural. For example there is no mention in Supernatural that Hell is a place of punishment. Souls are tortured but there is not indication that they are being "punished" for some wrong doing (as in the Christian idea that unrepentant sinners are sent to Hell by God) - the torturing is more part of stripping away the humanity of a person to form a demon. In fact Dean talks of torturing innocent souls. Also - not Hell is not undesirable to all demons - Azazel, Ruby and Alastair particularly seem fond of it! Just be careful in making generalisations.

Isn't "Hades" and "Hell" the same thing? I assumed that Crowley changed the whole of Hell into the endless corridor, not just a part of it. I assumed that means that the torture racks and all that are gone now. -- Scyllaya 0:58, 05 May 2011

The Misnomer of Hell Time

This is completely irrelevant considering the fact that Supernatural is a fictional story, however my mind is have seizures trying to make sense of the ratio of 10 years hell time to one month of real time. First and foremost, this presents a major problem in Hell having a continuous time flow. The rate of change in time would be inconsistent, months aren't all exactly the same length and our years aren't even all the same length. The rate of change in fact is different in each month, 31days/1month in January and then 28days/1 month three years out of four in February. Does Hell then have a timeline which is inconsistent in the measurement of time? How does that affect how hell works? And none of this can really make sense because time is an ongoing sequence of events represented by what has happened, what is happening and what will happen. Dear Supernatural, please come up with some nice explanation for me because this is putting me in a swivet.
