On June 20th 2017, it was announced that Season 13 would feature a planted pilot for Wayward Sisters, a spin-off series that would tell the story of "Sheriff Jody Mills and a group of troubled young women, all of them orphaned by supernatural tragedy. Under Mills’ training and protection, the women will emerge as a supreme monster-fighting force." Fandom has for the last few years been promoting the idea of a Wayward Daughters series.

- In early 2017 Rogue Events who run the Asylum Conventions for Supernatural as well as cons for other fandoms, was sold by Wayne Munn to Jennie Glover. Insurgence 9, the first Convention she ran in July 2017 - for The Vampire Diaries and The Originals - was a disaaster. Six guests cancelled before the Convention as financial commitments were not met, and the Con itself poorly run. The guests who did attend did their best to make up for it, despite not receiving their full payments. Immediately after the Convention, Glover announced that "he company would be entering into an insolvency procedure and that creditors will be notified in due course. Many Supernatural fans who had already bought tickets for the 2018 Asylum Convention remain doubtful that they will be reimbursed for money spent.
