Supernatural Anime

In June 2010, the Warner Brothers Japanese site announced the production of a Supernatural anime to be released in January 2011, later changed to February.

The studio producing this will be MADHOUSE. The first season will be twenty-two episodes covering the first two seasons of the original, remaking some episodes and adding new ones to include the brothers' childhood, focus on secondary characters, and anime-only enemies.

Yuya Uchida (Soul Eater's Dr. Franken Stein, Naruto Shippūden's Rinji) will dub the role of Sam, while Hiroki Touchi (Trinity Blood's Abel Nightroad, Bokurano's Kokkpelli) will dub the role of Dean. Both actors dubbed these same roles for the live-action version in Japanese. Source

At the Rising Con Spain 2010, Jensen and Jared confirmed the project and that they'd seen and approved the artwork for Sam and Dean. They also said they would voice the first couple of English language episodes. Confrimation that Jensen and Jared will dub two episodes in the second box into English Source.

The Winchester brothers (Sam and Dean) will be designed to look like the original actual actors (Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki). Sub characters: e.g. John, Bobby, Mary, Jessica etc. will be designed in a completely new way to give fresh impression. Enemies (Creatures, Demon and Ghosts) will be given a cool design taking full advantage of Japanese anime expression.

Release Information

• There will be a world premiere on Feb 3. Warner Home Video will launch the anime on Blu-ray and DVD in Japan with a starter disc on February 23, followed by two boxes on March 9 and April 6. Source
• Pre-order the DVD from Amazon Japan. The DVD is coded Region 2. There is currently no information on a worldwide release.
• From #sfcon, there will be a US release.
