Supernatural: Heart of the Dragon by Keith R.A. DeCandido is the fourth novel tie-in for Supernatural. It takes place shortly after the fifth season episode "Changing Channels." It was published February 16, 2010 by Titan Books and is 320 pages in length.
Synopsis
When renegade angel Castiel alerts Sam and Dean to a series of particularly brutal killings in San Francisco's Chinatown, they realize the Heart of the Dragon, an ancient evil of unspeakable power, is back! John Winchester faced the terrifying spirit 20 years ago, and the Campbell family fought it 20 years before that - can the boys succeed where their parents and grandparents failed?

- During the flashback to the Campbells' encounter with the Heart of the Dragon, it is revealed that, while the Campbell family have a long history of hunting monsters, Samuel only became aware of the profession when he witnessed his best friend being killed by a wraith when he was a teenager. The flashback also reveals that the Campbells finance their hunts through Samuel's dry-cleaning business and Deanna's occasional work as a substitute teacher.
