Supernatural: Coyote's Kiss by Christa Faust is the eighth novel tie-in for Supernatural. It takes place between the sixth season episodes "Caged Heat" and "Appointment in Samarra." It was published July 12, 2011 by Titan Books and is 320 pages in length.
A truck full of illegal Mexican immigrants slaughtered with supernatural force is found by the side of a road. Trying to find answers, Sam and Dean are plunged into the dangerous world that exists along the Mexican border.
They encounter a tattooed, pistol-packing bandita on a motorcycle who seems be everywhere they go before they get there. Xochi Cazadora draws them into a whole new world of monsters...
"You are..." He seemed to be searching for the right words. "Out of my jurisdiction."
"I'm sorry, what?" Sam took a step forward. "out of your jurisdiction? Since when do angels have jurisdiction?"
"You're dealing with a whole different system of government here," Castiel said. "Different gods. I'm not allowed to interfere."
"Come on, just because we're fighting Mexican monsters?" Dean said, struggling to sit up. The effort made his head swim. "There's got to be, what, a billion Catholics in Mexico, right?"
"And there are a billion demons in Mexico too. In fact they have one of the highest demon to human ratios in the world, second only to Uganda. And if you were fighting one of those demons I would be happy to help you, but you aren't. What you are up against is from a totally separate, independent spiritual realm. Upper management has a longstanding laissez-faire
policy with other gods. By the terms of our recent agreement, they stay out of our business and we stay out of theirs."
When they finally made it back to American soil, Dean was so happy to see his own car he almost kissed the hood.
"Think she can tell we've been rolling in another Impala?" Sam joked as Dean got behind the wheel.
"Don't listen to him, baby," Dean said, patting the dash. "I swear, she meant nothing to me. I didn't even drive, honest."
