Vale Kim MannersKim Manners, director and executive producer of Supernatural, died of lung cancer on 25 January, 2009. "Everyone at Supernatural is walking around in a daze, shocked and absolutely devastated. Kim was a brilliant director; more than that, he was a mentor and friend. He was one of the patriarchs of the family, and we miss him desperately. He gave so much to Supernatural, and everything we do on the show, now and forever, is in memory of him." Super-wiki Newsletter: January 2008Due to the hiatus and holiday season, this month's newsletter is shorter than usual. The next episode of Supernatural will air on January 31st, 2008. WGA StrikeWhat's happening with Supernatural? There are four new episodes available to air (3.09-3.12) and these will start on 31st January. You can check the Supernatural Wiki entries for Season 3 if you want spoilers for these episodes. Once new episodes of SPN have been aired, Reaper will be showing in the usual Supernatural timeslot from February 28. Until the strike ends, no new episodes of Supernatural can be filmed. At present it is impossible to predict whether there will be any more episodes of Season 3 beyond those already completed. Last year filming finished on March 27th, and it is unclear whether, if the writers return to work soon, this can be extended. The good news is that the likelihood of Supernatural being renewed for another season is probably high, as the strike means there will be few new shows ready with pilots.
At present, the AMPTP (i.e. the studios and networks) have still not agreed to resume negotiations. However the WGA has started to make deals with individual production companies and this may force the rest to follow. Fans continue supporting picket lines, raising money and pressuring networks. Messages of support were written by skywriters over the Rose Bowl Parade in Pasadena. The WGA Strike page at the Wiki explains the background to the strike, and what has happened since it began in November. It also gives you links to fan-based activities, and links to blogs of writers affected by the strike, like Sera Gamble as well as comments by Eric Kripke.

On November 5th, the Writer's Association of America called for a strike of writers of TV and film, when negotiations between the union and the association representing the studios failed. The main issue concerns residuals from new media products. Super-wiki Newsletter: November 2007Welcome to the first Super-wiki Newsletter. As you'll have noticed, we make weekly news posts during hiatus to let you know about new episode updates as soon as they happen. Featured: DemonologySeason 3 so far has stepped up Supernatural’s established rules of Demonology. We’ll keep you up-to-date on the developments. We recap: Season 2 ended after Jake, the last of the remaining Special Children that made up The Yellow-Eyed Demon's intended army, opened the Devil's Gate, unleashing hundreds of Demons upon the world. Episode 3.01 changed the rules of hunting demons with the Seven Deadly Sins, not to mention the introduction of the mysterious Ruby and her demon-killing Knife. Though these demons seem stronger, the old reliable Devil's trap and Exorcism still work, not to mention Palo Santo. Most of the demons seem just happy to escape Hell, but some are taking a more active role – Ruby helps Bobby repair the Colt as well as offering to help Sam break Dean’s deal. In 3.04, Casey turns out to be a more sympathetic demonic character, naming the Yellow-Eyed Demon as Azazel, revealing some of his plans, and her intentions to follow Azazel’s second in command – Sam. It was also revealed that demons believe in the fallen angel Lucifer. Sam, meanwhile, gets more and more trigger-happy with The Colt, killing the Crossroads Demon after she reveals that the contract she made with Dean is held by a higher power.

Behind-the-scenesWe're still working on our awesome new layout, but want to make it perfect before we launch it. Stay tuned! In the meantime, we're still constantly working to make the Super-wiki a more exciting place to be, and of course making sure everything's running smoothly. We've started working on organizing and categorizing all the images on the wiki; you'll be able to see them, gallery-style, on relevant category pages (take a look at the Episode Category if you're curious). Also check out our new section about the Super-wiki which also has places you can suggest & brainstorm new pages & content, as well as a new visitor/editor portal.
News for EditorsEditors should take note of the guidelines for uploading, naming & categorizing images on the wiki at Help:Images - following these guidelines will help keep the Super-wiki organized, and free up the Admins' time for more exciting things! We've also developed some site notices so we can easily identify pages that are being worked on, or that need being worked on:
A new Quotation Template has been created to better display info on the Super-wiki that is being directly quoted. Go to the Template page to find out what it looks like & how to use it.

September 2007The Super-wiki admin team is currently gearing up for Season 3! We've been working hard during the hiatus, and hope to release a brand new design for the site before the start of October. You may have noticed some changes around here already. We've upgraded the software the wiki is built on to the latest version, and refined our category structure to better organise our information. You can see the four core categories in the navigation menu on the left, as well as a handy Sitemap where you can get an overview of the whole thing. Stay tuned for more developments! --Angstslashhope 03:10, 12 September 2007 (PDT) |
