- St Mary's Convent, is located in Ilchester, Maryland.
- Lucifer's "cage door" is somehow connected to St. Mary's Chapel.
- Apparently, it was nearly impossible for someone (including demons) to speak directly to Lucifer while he was confined and bound to his cage.
- Only Lucifer's "first" (Lilith) can release him from his prison; in order for this to work Lilith had to be slain and killed.
1972----
In the year of 1972, Azazel possessed a priest at St Mary's Convent, and killed eight nuns in the chapel. This enabled him to speak to Lucifer. Lucifer tells Azazel that Lilith is needed to break The 66 Seals that hold him captive and that he needs to find a very special child.
2009----
In the year of 2009, Lilith (who escaped through the Devil's Gate in Wyoming when Azazel orchestrated its opening, and had by this time caused 65 of The 66 Seals to be broken). Knowing Sam Winchester would soon pursue her to this place, Lilith prepared to meet her fate and ensure her creator’s release from Hell. Sam telekinetically throws Lilith against the altar and pins her there before using his enhanced demonic powers to kill her, not realizing that her death is actually was the final Seal that will free Lucifer. Lilith’s blood forms a spiral circle in the middle of the chapel and the gates of Lucifer’s prison open. 4.22 Lucifer Rising
The doors to the chapel close and Sam and Dean are unable to escape. However before Lucifer appears, Sam and Dean find themselves transported to an airplane flying over the area. Joshua reveled to Dean and Sam that it was in fact God who saved them from Lucifer's rage.
