When Claire Novak, a regular resident of the youth transition center, is caught when she runs away and shoplifts, Sandra orders her to 48 hours in isolation.
The next morning, Castiel shows up and Claire gets him to agree to get her out of the center. They have a meeting with Sandra who questions why Castiel—who she believes to be Jimmy Novak, Claire's biological father—suddenly wants custody of Claire after years of no contact. Castiel clumsily explains that he'd been travelling for work, and Claire tells Sandra that he's an exterminator. Sandra doesn't believe this, and asks Claire to go wait in the hallway. Once alone with Castiel, Sandra explains that she's denying Castiel's application for custody because she can tell that he's trying to be Claire's friend when what she really needs is a father to guide her.
After Claire runs off on Castiel, Sam goes to the youth transition center to have a meeting with Sandra under the guise of being an FBI agent. Sandra tells him that Claire is a good kid who took Dustin Tate, another troubled teen who used to live at the center, under her wing. Sam asks where Dustin is now, and Sandra tells him he works at Wiener Hut. She then goes on to tell him that sometimes Claire would run away for 6 months at a time. Sam asks where she'd run off to, but Sandra admits that she doesn't know.
