After Claire steals $200 from Castiel in order to try and make enough money for Randy to pay Salinger back the money he'd loaned, Randy tells her it isn't enough and that Salinger is coming to collect the money that night. Claire pleads with him, wanting to try another way to make money. Randy and Dustin encourage her to rob a Gas-N-Sip.
When Castiel stops her from holding up the convenience store, Claire returns home empty-handed to find Randy tied to a chair and surrounded by Salinger and his men. Claire pulls a gun on Salinger, but is overpowered by one of his goons. Salinger taunts her, telling her Randy isn't worth her effort. Claire spits in his face, but Salinger just laughs and gets one of his men to put her in the other room.
Salinger then continues to taunt Randy, getting him to remind him that he owes him $5,000. He then offers him a deal—he forgets all about Randy's debt in exchange for Claire. At first, Randy seems to reject the deal. However, after Salinger tells him that he sees through his "proud papa" act and that he knows Randy just finds kids with daddy issues to steal for him, Randy relents and tells him it has to be a good deal.
Salinger enters the room Claire is in and gets his men to leave. He finishes off his beer, and locks the door before attempting to rape Claire. Claire fights back, kneeing him in the groin, screaming. All of a sudden, the door opens and Salinger looks up to see Castiel there. Claire kicks him in the face and manages to get free from his grip. She continues to kick him once she's standing, and he stays on the floor, groaning in pain as Castiel leads Claire from the room.
After Castiel and Sam get Claire out of the house to safety, Salinger returns to the main room where Dean is holding his men off. Salinger smashes his bottle over Dean's head, causing Dean to fall to the floor bleeding. Dean can feel the surge of power emanating from the Mark of Cain on his arm, and warns Salinger and his men that they don't want to do this. Salinger just laughs and kicks Dean in the face, which is the last straw for the Mark. Dean ends up slaughtering everyone in the house, including Salinger.
