On 12 October, 2021 it was announced that Jensen had been cast as a US Marshall in Rust, a Western directed by Joel Souza. It also stars Alec Baldwin, Travis Fimmel and Frances Fisher. Initial announcement about the project was back on 29 May, 2020, however filming was delayed due to the pandemic.

Death during filming & shutdown of production

On 22 October it was reported that there had been an on-set shooting accident, where Alec Baldwin discharged a prop gun that killed Director of Photographer Halyna Hutchins, and injured writer/director Joel Souza. It is unknown whether Jensen was on set at the time.

Production Resumes
