Characteristics
Reapers are servants of Death and are responsible for escorting deceased souls to the afterlife. They are not aligned with Heaven or Hell, and refuse to tell the deceased what awaits them. Death may have created them, although this has yet to be clarified in Canon.
Killing two Reapers under a solstice moon is one of The 66 Seals. This has to be done by performing a ritual and the actual killing involves using a special scythe - Death's Scythe. According to Alastair, the scythe belongs to Death the Horseman: "An old friend lent it to me. You know, he doesn't really ride a pale horse, but he does have three amigos."
