You have to understand, this isn’t just a hellhound, this is the hellhound... Right after God said, 'Let there be light,' He -- He made a whole bunch of things -- posies, koalas, hellhounds. He wanted the Creator's best friend, but the hounds were too vicious. So He planned on having them put down, until along came our favorite fallen angel. He rescued one of the hounds -- a pregnant bitch named Ramsey.
History
When God began creating the universe after locking away the Leviathans in Purgatory, hellhounds were some of the first creaures He made. He hoped to have them act as "The Creator's best friend." He quickly realized they were too vicious and had them destroyed. Lucifer, however, saved a pregnant female named Ramsey, thus allowing the species to propagate. Ramsey is considered the most vicious of the hellhounds and only takes orders from Lucifer himself. For this reason she is kept locked away in Hell's kennel.

12.15 Somewhere Between Heaven and Hell
Two of Lucifer's demon minions release Ramsey to act as a distraction for Crowley while they try and free Lucifer. After Ramsey is set loose, she ends up in the woods outside of Sheridan County, Nebraska. A man named Marcus accidentally intrudes on her den and she chases after him. She mauls Marcus and turns towards his girlfriend, Gwen Hernandez, but Gwen hits her with an axe and escapes. Ramsey drags Marcus's corpse back to her den before following Gwen to her house. After Sam and Dean confront her about what happened and are told to leave her house, Ramsey attacks Gwen and ties to kill her, but Dean shoots at her, wounding her and forcing her to escape by breaking through a window.
When the boys call Crowley, he explains Ramsey's origins and the fact that no one can control her except Lucifer. When they decide to head back to the woods to search for Ramsey; Dean and Crowley find her den, and Marcus's body. Meanwhile, Sam and Gwen are attacked by Ramsey, who jumps onto the Impala, wrecking the windshield and hood. She knocks Sam down and is about to kill him, but Gwen knocks her back with the cooler. As she lunges toward Sam again, he stabs her with an angel blade, killing her.
