6.20 The Man Who Would Be King
Rachel was Castiel's lieutenant in the war to win control of Heaven against Raphael. She referred to herself as Castiel's friend. She was later killed by Castiel, after confronting him about the rumors of him working with Crowley.
When Dean summons Castiel to help send him and Sam back to 1861, Rachel appears instead, stating that Castiel is busy with the war in Heaven. Irritated, Dean begins antagonizing Rachel, and the two argue until Castiel appears, ordering Rachel away.
Later, Rachel summons Castiel to a deserted warehouse, demanding to know whether the rumors about his "dirty little secret" are true. He intimates that it is, but insists that whatever he is doing is necessary to win the war against Raphael. Betrayed, Rachel tells him, "We put our faith in you, and now look what you are turning into."
Castiel says that he has no choice, and Rachel declares that neither does she. She attacks him with her angel blade, and in the ensuing fight, although she badly wounds Castiel, he manages to kill her. He drops her body on the ground and her wings are shown burned into the concrete.
In a flashback, we see Rachel greet Castiel after the Apocalypse was averted. She, and the other angels, look to him for leadership, despite Castiel insisting that they now all have free will. Rachel suggests that God bought Castiel back for a reason.
