History
Rabbi Bass was a member of the Judah Initiative - a secret society of Rabbis formed to fight the Thule Society. He joined at only seventeen years old.
In Vitsyebsk, Belarus following the Nazi occupation in World War II, the Thule Society established a camp where they carried out terrible magical experiments on the Jewish people in attempts to reanimate the dead. Commander Eckhart devises the experiments and records the results, which eventually lead to him being able to revive dead Nazis, in a red ledger. The Judah Initiative created a Golem to destroy the camp, but Eckhart uses magic and escapes leaving the red ledger behind.
In the years since the war, Rabbi Bass has moved to America bringing the Golem with him. He continued the work of the Judah Initiative and has been trying to find the red ledger, believing that it survived the fire. He attempts to tell his children, and later his grandson about the Thule Society and his work, but they think they are made-up stories, part of his coping with the horrors of the war. At his Bar Mitzvah, Rabbi gives Aaron a book on how to manage a Golem. Unfortunately, Aaron used the pages to roll joints of marijuana.

8.13 Everybody Hates Hitler
Rabbi Bass has been cataloging a collection of manuscripts at a college library in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania for an unknown amount of time. On this particular day, Rabbi Bass finds what he has been searching for, the red ledger, however knowing he has been followed and cannot take the ledger with him, he spends his remaining time in the library before it closes hiding the book. Later Torvald, a member of the Thule Society, follows Rabbi Bass, and eventually causes him to combust after the Rabbi sends a message to his grandson; Aaron Bass. After his death, a large box arrives at Aaron's house and inside is the Golem of Vitsyebsk bequeathed to him by his grandfather. Although reluctant at first, Aaron later takes full control of the Golem to complete Rabbi Bass' work, recognizing that his grandfather had left the task of defeating the Thule Society to him. The Golem was able to kill Torvald and avenge his former teacher's death.
12.05 The One You've Been Waiting For
After being contacted by the Winchesters about possible activity from the Thule Society, Aaron tells them that he has taken up the work of his grandfather and the Judah Initiative and is now using the red ledger to hunt down and kill all of the Thule members in Berlin, Germany. After hearing that Aaron and the Golem have killed half of the Thule recorded within the red ledger, Sam tells him that his grandfather would be proud of him. Aaron remarks that it feels good to finish what his grandfather and the Judah Initiative started.
