History

Pride is a black-eyed demon and one of the Seven Deadly Sins. His origins are unknown, but he existed as a demon with his six companions before the 16th century and has been trapped in Hell with them since the Dark Ages. Azazel means for Pride to be a soldier in Sam Winchester's army, but after the army is freed from Hell at the cost of Azazel's life, Pride and the other Sins begin operating as an independent group, only caring about causing death and suffering to entertain themselves.

Characteristics

Pride has fully black eyes (irises and sclera). He possesses a young man in a suit. Although cautious and intelligent, Pride is - true to his nature - conceited, looking down on humans and unhappy at the idea of having to obey someone he sees as inferior. He is disgusted by the concept of Sam as his leader, and once Azazel is dead, sees Sam as "fair game" to kill.

Powers and abilities

  • Pride has superhuman strength.
  • Pride can create moderately strong seismic activity with a gesture. He uses this power to shake the house he, the other Sins, and the hunters are in, so as to shake the walls hard enough to crack the ceiling and thus break the devil's trap drawn on it.
  • It can be assumed that Pride possesses a special power equivalent to the other Seven Deadly Sins', with his presumably being the ability to compel people to deadly acts of pride.

2.22 All Hell Breaks Loose: Part Two

Pride (and the rest of the Seven Deadly Sins) is later revealed to be among the hundred or more demons seen escaping Hell through the open Devil's Gate in this episode. Like the other demons, he appears as demon smoke.

3.01 The Magnificent Seven

Pride joins the other Sins in hanging out at a local bar while causing the deaths of humans through their power to incite deadly sin. Hunters Tamara and Isaac identify Envy as the demon behind the deaths and try to capture him at the bar when they track him to it, but then Pride reveals himself to be a demon as well and attacks them alongside the other Sins. After Gluttony forces Isaac to kill himself, Sam, Dean, and Bobby intervene, fending off Pride and the other Sins with holy water and capturing Envy before escaping.

Pride and the rest of the remaining Sins track the hunters down in attempt to rescue Envy, and when Wrath tricks Tamara into breaking the salt-line to let his comrades in, they separate to attack all four remaining hunters. Pride, Gluttony, and Greed confront Sam as a group. Pride saves Gluttony and Greed from entering a devil's trap Sam has drawn on the ceiling to capture them, then destroys it and addresses Sam, explaining that they don't appreciate Azazel's idea of having Sam rule them and that they want to kill him now that Azazel is dead and unable to retaliate against them. Pride then attacks Sam and begins strangling him to death, when suddenly Ruby arrives and kills Gluttony and Greed with her knife. Pride goes to attack her, but is attacked in turn by Sam and is momentaily distracted long enough for Ruby to kill him, too, by stabbing him up through the bottom of his jaw; Pride's unnamed meatsuit is killed in the process.
