Misha Collins plays the Angel Castiel in Supernatural.
Misha Collins (born Misha Dmitri Tippens Krushnic) August 20, 1974. He grew up in Massachusetts. After attending the Greenfield Center School, Misha graduated from Northfield Mount Hermon in 1992. In the following year, he pursued a wide variety of interests; including a job at NPR headquarters, a White House internship during the Clinton administration, construction work, and an EMT certification course. He then went on to the University of Chicago where he studied social theory. After college, Misha moved to Washington, DC with his partner Victoria Vantoch, a writer, and started an educational software company.
Then, on a lark, Misha decided to take an acting class, and soon found himself in the midst of a career change. He got a call for a role in Liberty Heights (directed by Barry Levinson), and then landed a part in Girl, Interrupted. He moved to Los Angeles soon thereafter, and now has a substantial list of acting credits to his name, including roles on 24, ER, CSI, Monk, Charmed and NYPD Blue.
Having traveled in Russia and mastered the accent, Misha has been called on several times to play Russian characters in television series—most notably the villainous assassin, Alexis Drazen, on 24. He has also appeared in seven independent feature films, most recently Stonehenge Apocalypse.
Misha wrote and directed the short film Stranger Danger. He was a producer and also acted in the web series Divine: The Series.
Misha and Vicki have a son, West Anaximander Collins (born September 23, 2010), and a daughter, Maison Marie Collins (born September 25, 2012).

In the alternate reality, Misha Collins likes tweeting and is keen to become friends with Jared and Jensen. The first time they see Misha, Sam and Dean mistake him for Castiel, and Misha believes they are pranking him by pretending to be Sam and Dean. The next day on his way home from the set, the angel hitman Virgil kidnaps Misha, takes him to a dark alley, and slits his throat, killing him. He then uses Misha's blood in a Goblet of blood to contact Raphael.
Misha Collins spent a lot of time on Twitter in the episode, and at one point he tweets "Ola mishamigos! J2 got me good. Really starting to feel like one of the guys." Rotflmfao!" (Source). After both of the airings were over, Misha then tweeted, "My phone was stolen and apparently cast into a parallel universe devoid of magic. I've retrieved it. I promise it won't happen again" (Source). All three tweets were retweeted by over 100 people in a matter of hours.
