Melanie killed her family, although this was undiscovered. She was adopted was adopted by the Merchant family who she also killed. Her adopted father Isiah father took the blame for it, abut killed her. After death, Melanie continued to kill anyone who was connected with the painting of the Merchant family. Isiah's spirit tried to warn people by moving his figure in the painting.
Melanie was cremated but she is dispatched when Dean fines that remnants of her hair that had been made into doll's hair, a Victoria custom, and burns it.
