Shorten grew up in Tamworth, Australia and graduated from the University of Newcastle in 2009 with a Bachelor of Laws and from the Australian National University in 2013 with a Master of Laws. A former musician (drums, bass guitar and guitar), Shorten played in several professional cover bands during law school. He worked as lawyer for several years before he decided to pursue a career as an actor. Shorten has made appearances on the CW series ''[http://www.imdb.com/title/tt3107288/ The Flash]'' and ''[http://www.imdb.com/title/tt3501584/ iZombie.]'' Shorten currently has the recurring role of "Sergeant Hiroyuki Yoshida" on Amazon Prime's adaption of ''[http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1740299/ The Man in the High Castle.]''
Shorten first appeared on ''Supernatural'' as [[Crowley]]'s "Minion #2" in the episode [[10.21 Dark Dynasty]], he's the Minion tasked with finding [[Oskar]]. He also appears in the episode [[11.01 Out of the Darkness, Into the Fire]] as Crowley's "Minion #1." He recently returned in the episode [[11.22 We Happy Few]] where he plays the "Leader Demon" leading the mutiny against Crowley's attempt at restoring his position as King of Hell.<br>
