Jerry is the Production Designer and a Co-Producer on Supernatural who has been with the show since its first season.He has also directed three episodes of the show.

Jerry Wanek, on the secret of the show's success back in Season One^S1Com:

Because Jared and Jensen have a great chemistry as brothers, what they bring to the table is what makes the show," he says. "After talking to Bob Singer, Eric, and Cyrus, I knew it was going to be a fun show as far as the look. I've done other shows that had great production values but didn't have great casts, and they didn't find an audience and nobody cared what anything looked like because we didn't believe the characters. I think it's a very tough job for these two young guys to pull this off, but they do it every week, and I'm very proud to be a part of that--it's very special.

We wanted to be a little over the top with the style in that house, because we were playing more with the iconic spoiled actor than we were with any reality of Jared and Genevieve, so we found the biggest, most ostentatious mansion we could and then took it farther by having them have paintings of themselves and things like that. Jared and Genevieve had a really good sense of humor about it.

Because the Men of Letters were well-versed in everything from physics to astrology and the occult, they needed a power base. So I thought if they piggybacked off a WPA power station, that would license to have an art deco theme throughout the bunker. What started off as a bunker, we adapted into a sanctuary, that has a working laboratory and a huge library. We have a shooting range and a storage area with a dungeon behind it, as well as bedrooms and an observatory with a telescope.

His name has appeared in a number of Supernatural episodes:

• In 1.06 Skin, when Sam is reading his text messages on his phone, one of the messages was sent by a Jerry Wanek.
• Jerry Wanek is the Pseudonym on Dean's fake Homeland Security I.D. in 1.04 Phantom Traveler
• Jerry is listed as the Production Designer in Hell Hazers II: The Reckoning, the movie being made in 2.18 Hollywood Babylon
• In 7.05 Shut Up, Dr. Phil one of the paintings in the exhibition is of Jerry and his dog Tula
