J2 RPS
J2 real person slash features the sexual and romantic pairing or Ship of Jensen Ackles/Jared Padalecki. J2 is considered an OTP pairing within the Supernatural fandom, and along with the character ships of Wincest and Destiel, is one of the most popular ships in the Supernatural fandom.
The first Jensen/Jared RPS by stone_princess: “postbarfightalleysnoggingfic” as well as storydivagirl’s “Enduring the Quiet” posted on November 10th, 2005.
RPS in the fandom really kicked off in early 2006, fueled by public appearances of Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki together - particularly at the William S. Paley Television Festival appearance in March 2006 in which they appeared quite close. The ship is still going strong ten years out, due in large part to the continued camaraderie of the show's two leads.
The announcement that as of mid-2008, and the beginning of Season Four, Jensen had moved in to share Jared's house in Vancouver lead to the frantic shining of fandom's Tin hats and an avalanche of Curtain Fic.
Poking fun at the popularity of RPS, co-star Misha Collins tweeted in 2012 at the renewal of season eight: “...Fun fact: If Jensen got Jared pregnant when they first met, they would have a 7 year-old.”
There is also an active fandom community engaging in Tin hat speculation, who believe that Jensen and Jared are secretly in a relationship, and their wives and children are a cover for their love.
