A rare occurrence in which an angry or vengeful spirit can take over the body of a living person in order to meet their goals. In some cases a ghost is capable of taking possession of inanimate objects and influencing them.

Episodes

1.01 Pilot

The Woman in White Constance Welch takes possession of the Impala and attempts to run Sam and Dean down on a bridge.

4.13 After School Special

The ghost of bully-turned-bullied-boy Dirk McGregor possesses the bullied and kills their bullies. Afterwards they remember what happened but report the inability to control their actions.

6.14 Mannequin 3: The Reckoning

The vengeful spirit of factory worker Rose Brown begins possessing mannequins to get revenge on the men who wronged her and caused her death. She first possesses an anatomy dummy to kill a man named Steve, then possesses a mannequin to kill a man named Dave. Finally she possesses the Real Doll of Johnny. After killing Johnny, Rose turns her attention to the Winchesters; she possesses the Impala in an attempt to run Sam and Dean down, but accidentally causes the death of her sister Isabel Brown.

7.22 There Will Be Blood

Bobby Singer possesses a maid named Louise to get revenge on Dick Roman after turning into a vengeful spirit

7.23 Survival of the Fittest

Realizing what he has become in his pursuit of revenge against Dick Roman, Bobby lets Louise go and regains control of himself.

8.06 Southern Comfort

A Confederate soldier named Vance Collins, who was killed by his brother in the Civil War, becomes a spectre or "avenging ghost." When some teens steal an Indian Head penny from his mausoleum, he attaches himself to the penny and begins possessing people, making them kill those whom they have grudges against.

11.07 Plush

The ghost of a murdered children's performer, Chester Johnson, begins possessing the people who wear his old costumes, using them to get revenge on the men who murdered him.

13.05 Advanced Thanatology

After inadvertently taking home a plague doctor mask that Dr. Avery Meadows had attached himself to, Shawn Raider becomes possessed by the doctor in the middle of the night and taken back to Dr. Meadows' home, where he forces Shawn to fatally lobotomize himself with a power drill.

13.16 Scoobynatural

The ghost of a young child is used by an unscrupulous real estate developer, Jay, to force people out of their property. Jay places a pocket knife, the young ghost's tether, into a large lizard plushie, allowing the boy to possess it. While fighting with Sam and Dean in Alan's pawn shop, the plushie is destroyed with holy fire.

As Sam and Dean leave the pawn shop with their new flatscreen TV, Jay slips the pocket knife into the TV, which allows the ghost kid to suck Sam and Dean into an episode of Scooby-Doo, Where Are You!
