Dr Sexy M.D. is the name of a fictitious hospital drama, based on a series of books, that has featured in Supernatural. It is a hospital drama set at Seattle Mercy Hospital and is a send-up of Grey's Anatomy a medical drama which aired opposite Supernatural in the US on Thursday nights, revolving around the love lives of the staff of Seattle Grace Hospital. Dr Derek Shepherd, played by Patrick Dempsey, is nicknamed "McDreamy" by other characters on the show.
Dean is a big fan of the show.
The show is first mentioned in 4.18 The Monster At The End Of This Book when The Publisher mentions it as one of the reasons the "Supernatural" books went out of print: "All anybody wants to read anymore is that romance crap. You know -- "Doctor Sexy, M.D."? Please."
