When Sam and Dean learn about ritualistic attacks happening in Minneapolis, where victims have had there hearts removed from their chests six months apart, they meet with Detective Pike about the cases. Pike tells the Winchesters that victims hearts were simply ripped out of there chests without cuts or incisions, and that it is all that the attack took. He shows them a surveillance video of the park where the jogger was killed, showing a heavyset man by the name of Paul Hayes running past the deceased jogger. He tells Dean they brought in Hayes for questioning and did a through background check on him, but came up with nothing and had to release him.
