History

A doppelgänger version of Kaia Nieves from the Bad Place, who like her counterpart is a dreamwalker. She appears to be highly adept at using her main weapon: a long spear made of bone and stone. Kaia and Dark Kaia's powers kept them connected their whole lives -- each one saw what the other experienced in their world.

After crossing to Sam and Dean's world, Dark Kaia is hunted by Michael's Monsters for her spear, which has the power to harm the archangel. Two years after departing her world, Dark Kaia seeks the help of Sam and Dean to return, having learned that the Bad Place is dying. After helping the Winchesters to rescue Kaia, who had survived and been trapped in the Bad Place for two years, Dark Kaia chooses to die with her world rather than fleeing the destruction.

13.09 The Bad Place

Kaia Nieves' doppelgänger appears as a cloaked figure stalking through the Bad Place whenever Kaia is taken to it. When Jack and Kaia join their powers to try and open a rift to escape the attacking angels, Kaia begins losing her hold on Apocalypse World, going back to the Bad Place where the cloaked figure begins advancing on Kaia until Kaia and Jack let out a blast of energy, destroying the angels and sending Sam and Dean to the Bad Place.

13.10 Wayward Sisters

While Sam and Dean are trapped in the Bad Place, the hooded figure is seen following them. Later, the figure catches up to Sam and Dean and knocks them out with a spear. When they wake up, they are tied to tree trunks. The hooded figure returns and bangs a nearby giant monster skull with the spear, attracting the attention of a Forest Troll.

When Claire and Kaia find and free Sam and Dean they take them to the nearby rift. Soon, the hooded figure catches up and throws the spear at Claire, but she is pushed out of the way by Kaia who takes the hit and dies. Claire tries to go after the figure, but Sam and Dean drag her back through the rift before the Forest Troll arrives.

Later at a park in Sioux Falls, another rift opens and the cloaked figure passes through and removes the hood, revealing Kaia's face.

14.03 The Scar

After learning that Dark Kaia had a confrontation with Michael, in which he was injured by her spear, Sam and Dean head to Sioux Falls to join up with Sheriff Jody Mills, who has found decapitated corpses with scars similar to the one that Dean has. Searching the woods, they come across Dark Kaia's campsite, surrounded by the piked heads of vampires she has killed.

Dean is checking the fire when he is attacked by Kaia. Her hood comes off in the ensuing fight, revealing herself to the group, and she escapes into the woods. Kaia finds a cabin and is having a drink and some food when she is caught off guard by Dean. who knocks her out with the butt of his rifle. After Kaia is tied to a chair, Jody questions why she killed their Kaia. Dark Kaia tells her it was an accident and she meant to kill Claire. She goes on to reveal that Michael has been sending monsters after her for her spear. After telling Dean how scared and weak he is, she recounts her confrontation with Michael, and relates how he attempted to recruit her, but when she refused he attacked and she was able to injure him with her spear.

When a trio of vampires tracks Kaia to the cabin, she is kicked free by Dean during the fight, and jumps out a window. As the vampires are gaining the upper hand, Kaia suddenly returns with her spear and dispatches each vampire brutally and efficiently. Sam points out that as long as she has the spear, she will be a target for Michael and his monsters, which she claims to be used to before leaving.

14.09 The Spear

Learning from Garth that Dark Kaia is in Omaha, Nebraska, Dean and Castiel track her to a recycling plant. Finding that the food is still warm, Dean wonders where Dark Kaia is and Castiel wonders if she was already captured. As they are about to leave after getting a call from Sam, Dean is ambushed by Dark Kaia with her spear. When she tells them she has no intention of letting them take her spear, Dean tells her she should just kill him, as without the spear they have no hope of stopping Michael, who will kill thousands with his monster army. Kaia lowers her spear, and when asked what she wants out of the trade, she tells them she wants Jack to help her go back to her home as the magic she used doesn't work in the Winchesters' world. With Michael's monsters constantly hunting her, she came to the realization that their world is ultimately no different than hers, but with her home she at least knows her place in it. When Castiel asks why she wants to go back, Kaia says that she has family back in the Bad Place, people she feels bound to protect. Dean agrees to help her and is given the spear, with Kaia swearing that she will kill Dean if he doesn't return the spear. She tells the duo to find her when they're finished using the spear before disappearing.

15.12 Galaxy Brain

While investigating a murdered cow, Jody Mills spots Dark Kaia running into a nearby barn and follows her. Kaia ambushes Jody and knocks her out, then subsequently forces Jody to call Dean and demand that the Winchesters come or Jody is dead.

When the Winchesters arrive, Dark Kaia attacks, overpowering Sam and strangling Dean, demanding her spear back and to be sent back to the Bad Place as they promised. Jody, freed by Sam, smashes her chair over Dark Kaia's back, releasing Dean who tells Dark Kaia that their promise expired the moment she hurt their friend. As the Winchesters confront Dark Kaia at gunpoint, she reveals that she wants to go back home as her world is dying. Dark Kaia states that she knows from her dreams and reveals that the person she is protecting is their Kaia, whom she's been connected to her whole life and whose eyes Dark Kaia still sees through even now. Dark Kaia explains that the two Kaias were born at the same time in two separate worlds and even now Kaia still haunts her despite being left in the Bad Place.

To their shock, Dark Kaia reveals that Kaia is still alive, Dark Kaia having dressed her wound before leaving her world. Jody is horrified to realize that Kaia has been trapped in the Bad Place this entire time. Dark Kaia insists she left Kaia the tools she needed to survive and she has, but the Bad Place is ending and she can see it through Kaia's eyes.

The Winchesters bring Jody and Dark Kaia back to the Bunker where she greets Jack. However, Jack is unable to help them without risking drawing God's attention and they discuss trying to find another way of opening a rift to the Bad Place. Overhearing their conversation, an annoyed Dark Kaia warns them that they are running out of time and Jack can take them to the Bad Place right away. Dean dismisses Dark Kaia's concern and Jack offers to help in other ways. At the suggestion of an angry Jody, Dark Kaia is chained to a table with a magazine while they work on a solution.

After overhearing Castiel and Jody talk about Kaia and Claire Novak, Jack visits Dark Kaia, commenting that she looks just like the Kaia that he briefly knew. Dark Kaia angrily cuts off Jack's questions and he apologizes for his inability to do more. Dark Kaia angrily tells Jack that she had witnessed Jack pushing the scared Kaia to cross universes; Jack insists that he only wanted to help Kaia, who was in a lot of pain. Dark Kaia reminds him that Kaia is in a lot of pain now and will soon die if they don't do something to help because of Jack. Jack questions why Dark Kaia came to their world in the first place and she explains that she envied Kaia and her seemingly peaceful world. However, Dark Kaia finds the world strange and beyond her understanding so she finds empty spaces to hide in rather than enjoying the world that she had envied. Dark Kaia pleads with Jack to help them and he taps into her mind to see a scared Kaia singing.

After seeing Kaia through Dark Kaia, Jack decides to help and a reluctant Merle helps the group come up with a plan to avoid detection by God. Jack releases Dark Kaia and once they are ready, opens a portal to the Bad Place in the Bunker. Dark Kaia leads the Winchesters through the rift back to the Bad Place, avoiding their questions about how it feels to be home and silently leading them to Kaia. However, they are surrounded by a pack of Canids and Dark Kaia warns that they can't fight that many as they'd just lose. However, Dark Kaia realizes that the creatures are scared, not of them, but the developing storm.

After the creatures flee, Dark Kaia leads them to her home, where Kaia is now living. After Kaia is reunited with the Winchesters, she angrily turns on Dark Kaia before Sam reassures Kaia that her counterpart helped to find her. However, Dark Kaia refuses to leave the Bad Place with them even though it means she will die, stating that it's her home and she never should've left. Dark Kaia states that she doesn't belong in their world but Kaia does and tearfully urges them to leave before its too late.

As the Bad Place is consumed by a massive dark cloud, Dark Kaia turns to face her fate with her arms outstretched and eyes closed and is consumed by the cloud and dies with the Bad Place.
