History
Charlie the Magician once worked for P.T. Barnum, who gave him a powerful grimoire. The last spell in it was for immortality that used enchanted Tarot cards, however when the spell is used, someone else dies. Mentor to Jay, whom he took under his wing and trained to be a magician, and along with their friend Vernon they used to be very successful.
4.12 Criss Angel Is a Douchebag
Depressed at being unable to compete with the younger magicians, Jay decides to kill himself by undertaking a trick "the Table of Death" with the intention of letting it kill him. Charlie saves him using the enchanted tarot. During another trick, Charlie "dies" but later reappears as his young self. He offers eternal life to Vernon and Jay although it means Sam and Dean will have to die. However Jay pickpockets Charlie's deck of cards, leaving one with Charlie, and then stabs himself, killing Charlie.
