Charity Projects

The fandom, cast, and crew have a tradition of coming together to do good works and raise money for charity. Many of the major projects are listed here. There have been thousands of projects started by fans to help SPNFamily members. While it is impossible to list them all, the sites which facilitate these fundraising activities are listed.

• The Supernatural cast and crew had a series of raffles to win the honor of giving a pie to the face to fellow cast and crew. They raised over $47,000 for the the 6th Annual REEL Thanksgiving Challenge in 2018, raising funds for the Greater Vancouver Foodbank.

• Support Supernatural promotes SPNFamily charity projects and also runs their own campaigns.
• Castiels Angels Raises money by fundraising for the SPN casts different charities and projects. Known for making Supernatural crafts and donating the profits to Random Acts & other Supernatural supported charities.

2015 Projects

• Matt Cohen is raising money for a dear friend's sister who was in a horrific car accident. Donate Here
• Lauren Tom is recruiting a team for a 5K walk on Oct. 24, 2015 in Los Angeles, CA to benefit Homeboy Industries. You can sign up for her team and/or donate here
• Danneel Ackles has donated a Season 11 script and cast chair in an auction benefiting Thinkery Austin Auction closes Sept. 25, 2015 6PM CDT
• Assistant Director Kevin Parks is doing his 6th annual "THE RIDE TO CONQUER CANCER" benefiting The BC Cancer Foundation Donate here till August, 28 2015

Past Projects

• Eric Kripke donated his nominee prize from the 2009 People's Choice Awards, where Supernatural won for best Sci-fi show, to raise funds for Haiti.
  

• Winchester Bros website ran a fundraiser to celebrate Supernatural's 100th episode in January 2009.
• Assistant Director Kevin Parks of the Supernatural Crew took part in the 2010 "Ride to Conquer Cancer" from Vancouver to Seattle in June. He's doing this in honor of Kim Manners. Supernatural fans can find out more information and donate here.
• Support Supernatural - brought Supernatural fans together to raise money for charity in the name of Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki. All 2010 fundraising efforts [www.supportsupernatural.com/adlr-fundraiser082010.htm can be found at this page]
• Superknitural - a charity knitting project Ended in 2010
• Sweet Charity - a multifandom project where fans "auction" their services in producing a fanwork (fic, video, art) or other good such as jewelery, and the money raised goes to charity. Ended 2008
• Fandom Rocks - Helping people, changing things: the fandom business. Started in June, 2007, Fandom Rocks is a fan-run initiative to raise funds and awareness for charities around the globe. The project wound up in February 2010.
• SPN Fans United Against Hunger Ended 2011
• Minion Stimulus was started by Misha's Minions with support from Misha Collins to raise money for charity. This then developed into Random Acts
• Operation: Winchester was a fan project to send Supernatural Season 1 DVD set to US troops overseas
• Fundraising for The John Wayne Cancer Foundation by Jim Beaver fans. Ended & website not longer exists.
• Following his death, Kim Manners' family requested that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to The American Cancer Society in Memory of Kim. Supernatural fans on Livejournal donated $1650 to the The American Cancer Society within a week of his death.
• WinchesterCon/Wincon - each year chooses a charity and conducts a raffle during the con to raise money. Ended 2010
• KazCon - In 2009 held a charity auction with proceeds going to National Lung Cancer Partnership in Memory of Kim Manners
• Support for Hurricane Sandy relief efforts Ended October, 2012 and raised $4,616
• In response to the Haiti earthquake on 12 January 2010, Supernatural fan pinkfinity set up help_haiti on Livejournal, a pan fandom effort to auction fan services and raise money. Misha Collins set up a donation site for UNICEF relief efforts. Report of fandom fundraising efforts.
• Charity UK - list the various projects undertaken in the UK over the past few years

Other professional Conventions also often raises money for charity. At All Hell Breaks Loose Sydney 2009 t-shirts decorated by Jared and Jensen sold for thousands of dollars to raise money for the Starlight Foundation. Read an article about one fan who bid paid over $1,200 for Jared's t-shirt.

At Salute to Supernatural Chicago 2009, Jared auctioned a watch he'd worn as Sam Winchester to raise money for students from his mother's school to go to the University Interscholastic League, which Jared himself had attended as a student.
