In Season 8, Castiel is seen in [[Purgatory]], still wearing his hospital garb, and the trench coat, which is very dirty and worn. When he returns to earth in [[8.07 A Little Slice of Kevin]], he shaves his beard and restores his suits and tie, and cleans his trenchcoat in the process.
Following the end of [[9.01 I Think I'm Gonna Like It Here]], the trench coat no longer appears due to Castiel abandoning it.
