Casifer is a portmanteau made up of Castiel and Lucifer. It arose in fandom after 11.10 The Devil in the Details when Castiel consents to possession by Lucifer as he believes it is the only way to defeat The Darkness. Some fans also used the varient Lustiel.

Writer Robbie Thompson confirmed that, following their convention of shortening Castiel to Cass, the writers used the name "Cassifer" Source. Fandom, as usual, ignored canon and embraced their own preferred term.
