The Blood Sigil or Sanguinem sigil is a blood spell first used by Henry Winchester to travel from 1958 to 2013.[1] The sigil transports the user to someone related by blood; as Henry Winchester explained to Sam and Dean, "blood leads to blood". The spell requires the sigil be drawn in blood from the participant mixed with three other key ingredients:

  • Angel feathers (Angelus pinnarum)
  • Tears of a dragon (Lacrimae ex draconis)
  • Sands of time (Terra tempus)

The participant must also tap into the power of his or her soul to perform the spell and recite the following Enochian invocation:

kah-nee-lah puh-goh kah-nee-lah
Blood unto blood

Henry stated that he would have to wait at least a week for his soul to recharge after performing the spell.

Abaddon uses the blood spell to travel back in time to 1723, where she kidnaps Gavin MacLeod and transports him to 2014 to use as leverage against Crowley.[2] After learning that his lover, Fiona Duncan, became a ghost who began killing teachers in her anger, Gavin decides to go back to 1723. Rowena tweaks the spell to allow Gavin to be sent back without calling to a blood relative.[3]
