History

After their ranks were decimated in a long war, the Amazons made a deal with the goddess Harmonia. She made them stronger, and gave them the ability to reproduce quickly. The Amazon women could give birth 36 hours after having sex, and the children matured rapidly, becoming a teenager within 3 days. The girl then had to kill the man who'd fathered her, removing his hands & feet and carving an Amazonian symbol on his chest. Every two years, women of child bearing age would repeat the cycle.

The children were raised by Amazonian elders and taught to endure pain, and dispense it. One of their rituals involved consuming the flesh of a dead father. They were also branded with the sign of the Amazons on the inside of their wrist.

This round of breeding is taking place in Seattle. Previous rounds have occurred in Chicago and also in Miami.

7.13 The Slice Girls

Mark of the Amazons.

In Seattle, the Amazons are breeding, leaving in their wake four dead men in two weeks with their hands and feet removed and an Amazonian symbol carved in their chest. Sam and Dean consult a local anthropologist Professor Morrison, for help interpreting it. While investigating, Dean takes time out at the Cobalt Room, where he meets Lydia, and they end up back at her place and have sex. When Dean returns the next day to retrieve his hip flask, he finds that Lydia has a baby called Emma, which he thinks he hears speaking like an adult. Dean stakes out Lydia's place, and later sees her hand over a young girl, who she also calls Emma, to Madeline. Emma is taken to a building where being she indoctrinated into the Amazon ways with other young girls.

Charlene Penn, the detective supposedly investigating the murders, is also an Amazon who informs Madeline that the Winchesters are on their trail. Madeline orders the death of Sam, along with Dean.

Based on Professor Morrison's information that the symbol is that of the Amazons, with some further research, conclude that Dean may have fathered Lydia's child Emma. Finding a Greek text, Sam takes it to Professor Morrison who interprets it to read that it is the daughters who kill the men who fathered them. As Sam leaves, Detective Penn confronts and attacks him, but Sam kills her.

Emma finds Dean, telling him she is running away from the Amazons, but actually intending to kill him. When Dean hesitates, suggesting she could actually leave them, Sam arrives and shoots her.

When Dean and Sam return to the building where the Amazons were based, they have disappeared.

Amazons in Lore

Amazons were tribe of female warriors in Greek myth who were thought to live in Central Asia or North Africa. Legends said that they mated with other tribes to preserve their race, but kept only female infants. They were said to amputate their right breasts so that they could shoot better with bow and arrows. Later historians claimed that the Amazons were a tribe of men and women in which both sexes fought in battles. Herodotus claimed that no Amazon woman could marry until she had killed a man.[1]

One famous queen of the Amazons was Hippolyta; Hercules in his Twelve Labors was commanded to steal her girdle. [2] In DC Comics' Wonder Woman, Hippolyta is the mother of Diana, also known as the superhero Wonder Woman.
