One day of filming had occurred when production halted on 13th March 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
On his birthday, August 20th, Misha Collins revealed spoilers on Twitter as to the cast (limited by COVID restrictions) currently filming this episode. Fans began putting two and two together.
The gas station where Dean finds the dog is called Route 66 and has the names Tod and Buz on the fron sign. Route 66 was a 1960s TV show following two guys - Tod Stiles and Buz Murdock - and their adventures as they travel across America. Eric Kripke has said the show was part of the inspiration behind Supernatural.
