Synopsis

In the dimly lit nursery, Sam finds a fully grown Jack, naked and sitting on the floor smiling at him with gold glowing eyes. Outside, Dean stands over Castiel’s lifeless body. Realizing that Sam is inside the house, Dean grabs his gun and rushes in. Meanwhile, Jack stands up and asks Sam if he is his father. Sam tells Jack he isn't his dad, and as Dean enters the house, Sam calls him to the nursery where Dean, without hesitation, takes a shot at Jack, narrowly missing his head. The attack upsets Jack, who starts screaming, which emanates a blast of power that lifts both Winchesters up off the ground and throws them against the wall, knocking them out. Jack is then able to take his leave.

After a few hours, Dean wakes from a nightmare where Mary bursts into flame. The brothers realize that Jack is gone and go on the search to find him before he hurts anyone. While wandering the woods, Jack ends up at up at a Pirate Pete's fast food restaurant and starts calling out for his father at the drive-thru. The teens working there see Jack, naked, on the security camera from outside and one of them, Clark Barker, calls his mother -- Sheriff Christine Barker.

On the road searching for Jack, Sam and Dean discuss what to do with him. Dean wants to kill Jack as he is convinced he is, or will become evil. Sam is more cautious, thinking that Jack may not be evil, and may even be able to help them re-open the portal to Apocalypse World.

Sheriff Barker arrives at Pirate Pete's and confronts Jack. Realizing Jack has become agitated by the sight of her gun, she puts her hands up and assures him she is there to help him, and is able to convince Jack to come back to the station along with her son Clark. At the station, Christine gets Jack some clothes from the lost and found and questions him about his parents, only getting the information that his mother is in Heaven and he is looking for his father. Realizing that attempting to get useful info from Jack isn't going anywhere, she takes his thumb print. After she leaves to check the print, Clark talks to Jack, amused by the whole thing and asking Jack how high he is. Jack, confused, tells Clark he isn't high, but that he is hungry.

Two angels looking for Jack find the house where he was born and discover Kelly Kline and Castiel both dead.

Sam has Dean stop at the Pirate Pete’s, telling Dean that Jack would have probably passed through there. Dean agrees and tells Sam while he is inside he will call Jody and have her put out a nationwide APB on the boy. Inside Sam finds a drunk women, Miriam, badgering the employee about fries. Sam asks him if he has seen a young naked man pass through and finds out that Jack has been there and was taken in by the sheriff. When Sam calls the sheriff, pretending to be an FBI agent, she confirms she has Jack. She tells Sam she’s found something odd he needs to see, as she stares at Jack’s finger print which is vertical lines, rather than whorls.

Back at the Impala Miriam, noticing Dean's bloody hand, asks him if he punched a wall. When she gets no answer, she begins ranting to Dean about a woman named Becky who annoyed her in college, and so Miriam punched her Frozen poster and burned all of her things. Sam comes back, letting Dean know where Jack is being held.

Down at the station, the lights start flickering on and off. As Sheriff Barker investigates, she finds her son and Jack in the break room eating candy. She questions Clark about the flickering lights, so Clark has Jack show his mother how Jack is able to use his powers to get candy from the vending machine. As he is getting candy, Jack suddenly screams in pain and grabs his head. As he begins to walk away, Sheriff Barker tries to stop him, causing Jack to lash out with his powers and knock her out. The Winchesters arrive at the station, and as Jack sees Dean he prepares to attack again but Sam immobilizes him with a taser. Sheriff Barker comes to and locks Sam and Jack in a holding cell while she interrogates Dean, who comes clean with the fact that he and Sam hunt monsters, also revealing that Jack is a Nephilim -- half-human, half-angel.

In the holding cells, Jack wakes. Sam is able to calm him down before he tries to attack him. Jack reveals that through his connection with his mother, he was able to learn the English language and how the world would be dangerous for him, necessitating his expedited growth. When he asks about his father, Sam assumes he means Lucifer, but Jack tells him his father's name is Castiel. He tells Sam that his mother said that Castiel would look after him. When he questions Sam about Cas, Sam reveals to Jack that he is dead.

Meanwhile, outside, as Clark is sneaking a smoke, Miriam arrives accompanied by the other two angels who were searching for Jack. While Dean is telling Sam that the sheriff took the talk as good as can be expected, they hear Clark screaming for help. Dean goes off to investigate with Sheriff Barker to find Miriam has taken Clark hostage and is threatening to kill him unless the Sheriff shoots Dean. The other two angels find Jack in the holding cell area. When they alert Miriam to this she stabs Clark, causing a fight to ensue between her and Dean, wherein she reveals Jack is the "Golden Ticket" and is capable of doing almost anything. While Sam tries to protect Jack from the other angels he is badly beaten. Slumped against the wall of the cell, Sam manages to draw an angel banishing sigil with the blood from his nose to dispatch the angels.

After Miriam gets away from Dean she enters the holding area but is soon flanked by the Winchesters. Feigning defeat, she offers up her angel blade, but quickly stabs Jack in the heart saying that if she can’t have Jack no one will. She is promptly killed by Sam in retaliation with the discarded blade from the other angels. Jack reveals that the stabbing did him no harm.

Clark is taken to the hospital with his mother at his side. Sam tells Dean that Jack should return with them to the Bunker. Dean agrees, telling Sam that while he thinks Jack will become evil, at least at the Bunker he can only hurt them. The trio return to the house where Kelly and Castiel died. Sam is reluctant to give Cas a funeral pyre in case he can be brought back, but Dean reveals that he has already prayed to God to bring back Mary, Cass and even Crowley, to no avail. Sam, Dean, and Jack stand next to the pyre as they say farewell to Castiel and Kelly.

In Apocalypse World, Mary attempts to evade Lucifer, who materializes in front of her, reminding Mary that he can teleport. A defeated Mary asks if Lucifer is going to kill her now. Believing that is a good idea, Lucifer tosses her aside, but stops her just short of being impaled on a spike, declaring that he may actually need Mary after all.

Quotes

Sam: Hold on a second. Can we just talk about what happened back there?
Dean: Sure. Which part? Let's see, Crowley's dead, Kelly's dead, Cas is... Mom's gone, and apparently, the Devil's kid hit puberty in 30 seconds flat. Oh, and almost killed us.
Sheriff Barker: Is there anything you do remember, Jack?
Jack: I remember when the bad woman burned. I remember the universe screamed.
Dean: Well... You really think that Lucifer Jr.'s at Pirate Pete's Jolly Treats? That he was like, what, 'Before I destroy the world, let me just grab a bag of curly fries.'
Dean: Look, maybe you're right. Maybe the Devil's kid is in there just hanging out. Okay? Or maybe he's halfway across the country, torching Chicago. I'm gonna call Jody, check in, see if she can't help us put a nationwide APB out on a creepy Satanic nudist.
Sam: Okay, I'm- I'm looking for a guy. Uh, he- he's about your height. Uh... naked.
Miriam: You and me both, sister.
Dean: My name is Dean Winchester. That big fella in there is my brother Sam. We kill monsters.

Sheriff Barker: Monsters?
Dean: Mm.
Sheriff Barker: Like...
Dean: Have you ever seen a horror movie?
Sheriff Barker: Mm hmm.
Dean: Like that.
Sheriff Barker: So what are you? Some kind of superhero?

Dean: I'm just a guy doing a job.
Dean: Let him go.

Miriam: Okay. If she shoots you. I don't know what he's told you. I mean, I can guess. Some line about how he and his brother... 'save the world.' Grr. So macho. But really, he's not a hero. He's Becky.
Dean: Becky? The roommate Becky?
Miriam: You take things and break things and piss people off and just do whatever you want, no matter who it hurts. Also, you're a giant super bitch.
Dean: Well, it takes one to know one.

Miraiam: So yeah, you're Becky, and Becky needs to die.
Dean: Okay, Chuck... or God or whatever. I... I need your help. See, you -- you left us. You left us. You went off... You said... you said the Earth would be fine because it had me and it had Sam, but it's not, and we're not. We've lost everything. And now you're gonna bring him back. Okay? You're gonna bring back Cas, you're gonna bring back Mom, you're gonna bring 'em all back. All of them. Even Crowley. 'Cause after everything that you've done, you owe us, you son of a bitch. So you get your ass down here and you make this right. Right here and right now! Please. Please help us.
Sam: You wanna say anything?

Jack: I... What do you say?

Sam: Right. Thank you. You say thank you. And you say you're sorry. You hope they're somewhere without, uh, sadness or pain. You hope they're somewhere better. You say goodbye.
Lucifer: So you thought you could run away from me? Really? Really? You do know I can fly, right?

Mary: So what now? You kill me?

Lucifer: Sure. Or maybe not. Maybe... Maybe I need you.
