Quotes

Lata: Well, this has been a spectacular failure. We've scoured every location Samuel suspected the Akrida Queen could be and found nothing. I mean, perhaps we should circle back, check our work?

Carlos: Yeah, I -- I was thinking the same thing.
Lata: Of course, that could be a... colossal waste of time.
Carlos: Totally agree.
Lata: Or I could, uh, take a machete from your collection and chop you up into tiny little bits.
Carlos: That's great. Wait! What?

Lata: You haven't heard a word I've said, have you?
John: A normal life's right around the corner for you, Campbell.
Carlos: I can't stop thinking about him. I even saw his beautiful, round, dimpled face in my blueberry pancakes I ordered this morning.

Trivia & References

The title of this episode is a reference to the 1969 Elvis Presley song, "Suspicious Minds".
Dorothea: And my husband's the Julia Child of the family.
Julia Child was a cook who popularized French cooking in the United States. However her first book Mastering the Art of French Cooking wasn't published until 1961, so it was unlikely that the women were familiar with her in 1957.
Nary: You know of any monsters that like to break in and clean up in record time?

John: Mary Poppins.

Mary Poppins is a magical nanny who featured in a series of books from the 1930s, and who was popularized by a 1964 movie starring Julie Andrews.

Minutiae

Wilcox: I was a neurosurgeon until a very charming gentleman named Mr. Glass recruited me into the Men of Letters.
"Mr. Glass" is a reference to former Supernatural writer/executive producer Adam Glass, who introduced Henry Winchester and the Men of Letters in 8.12 As Time Goes By.
Jack Wilcox suggests that the Akrida were responsible for the destruction of the Men of Letters. Although the Men of Letters were wiped out by the Knight of Hell Abaddon, as seen in Supernatural, Larry Ganem told Sam Winchester that Abaddon was only "a hired gun" in 8.12 As Time Goes By, suggesting that the Akrida might've been the ones to hire her.
