- Julia Child was a cook who popularized French cooking in the United States. However her first book Mastering the Art of French Cooking wasn't published until 1961, so it was unlikely that the women were familiar with her in 1957.

John: Mary Poppins.
- Mary Poppins is a magical nanny who featured in a series of books from the 1930s, and who was popularized by a 1964 movie starring Julie Andrews.

- "Mr. Glass" is a reference to former Supernatural writer/executive producer Adam Glass, who introduced Henry Winchester and the Men of Letters in 8.12 As Time Goes By.
Jack Wilcox suggests that the Akrida were responsible for the destruction of the Men of Letters. Although the Men of Letters were wiped out by the Knight of Hell Abaddon, as seen in Supernatural, Larry Ganem told Sam Winchester that Abaddon was only "a hired gun" in 8.12 As Time Goes By, suggesting that the Akrida might've been the ones to hire her.
