When War introduces himself to Sam, he says "I was in Germany, then in Germany, then in the Middle East... I was in Darfur when my beeper went off." This is somewhat similar to the lyrics of [http://rollingstones.com/discog/index.php?v=so&a=1&id=106 the Rolling Stones song "Sympathy for the Devil"] in which the song's narrator (Lucifer) speaks of himself as being a protagonist or participant in many of the dark episodes of history. War's comment makes references to World War I, World War II, the Arab-Israeli conflict, and the genocide in Darfur.
