After faking his death at the hands of Lucifer in the [[Elysian Fields Hotel]], Gabriel would meet with the [[shaman]] [[Sergei]], and barter a portion of his [[grace]] for a cloaking spell to keep him hidden while he partied in Monte Carlo with porn stars and the sons of [[Loki]]. The party was short-lived, as Loki, in an act of revenge for the death of [[Odin]] at Lucifer's hands, had his three sons bind Gabriel and sell him off to the [[Prince of Hell]] [[Asmodeus]], where Gabriel would endure seven years of torture and his grace being routinely extracted to feed and empower the power hungry prince.
As Asmodeus prepared for war against both Lucifer and an alternate reality [[Michael (Apocalypse World)|Michael]], he revealed Gabriel's survival to [[Arthur Ketch]] who eventually rescued the archangel. Gabriel subsequently killed Asmodeus and got revenge upon Loki and his family before being convinced to join the Winchesters' mission to rescue their loved ones from [[Apocalypse World]] and fight Michael. Reunited with Lucifer for the first time since his "death," Gabriel put aside his past as the Trickster forever and ultimately sacrificed himself to buy the Winchesters, Castiel and the Apocalypse World refugees time to escape from Michael who killed Gabriel with an [[archangel blade]] for his interference.
