Sisterhood Of The Traveling Misha Shirt
The Sisterhood of the Traveling Misha shirt was founded by Katy Bonello in 2024 as a way to carry on spreading messages of kindness and creating friendships worldwide in the spirit of GISH, which ended in late 2023.
Katy acquired one of Misha’s shirts through Random Acts’ #shirtofftheirback charity auction in December of 2023, and with the help of the other founders of the sisterhood, Kirky, Suzi, Heather, and Jessie, formulated a way to keep the spirit of GISH alive by sharing the shirt with other GISH and Misha enthusiasts all over the globe.
For the first year, whoever had the shirt was required to complete and document an act of kindness, as well as take a photo in the shirt with a landmark in the area that they lived or were visiting. There were three other original “just for fun” prompts, including “selfie,” “video,” and “wings.” By the end of 2024, the prompt list had expanded to over two dozen additional suggestions for ways to have fun with the shirt, and it had been to nine countries and six states in the US. The sisterhood also raised over $2,500 for charitable causes in its first year. The list of supported charities and organizations included Tropical Wings (Costa Rica), United24, Sharing and Caring Hands (Minnesota), Forest Pines Drive Elementary School (North Carolina), Random Acts, and Trussell Trust (The UK). Money was raised through a variety of methods, including charity raffles, individual donations by members of the sisterhood, and by pairing up with Random Acts to complete acts of kindness.
In 2025, the Sisterhood has “upped the stakes” and set a $3,000 fundraising goal in support of the Legacy of War Foundation (one of the organizations highlighted and supported often during the days of GISH which supports beneficiary led projects in areas impacted by war). They will host a variety of raffles and giveaways throughout the year to help reach the target goal via social media, and anyone who has the shirt will be helping to spread awareness. The shirt is destined for multiple states and countries to continue stirring up “well-intentioned chaos for good,” and meanwhile, the sisterhood will also be partnering with several other initiatives inspired by Misha Collins to prove that together, we can change the world “one random act of kindness at a time.”
Misha Collins has also given the sisterhood an additional assignment for 2025 that has been opened up for anyone and everyone to participate in, and by sharing it with the world, they hope to increase their global visibility and use their platform to continue making the world a kinder, happier place to be.
