Plutus was the god of greed. For three thousand years, he auctioned supernatural artifacts with a right-hand man called Beau who assisted with the bidding and collection of powerful items.

8.02 What's Up, Tiger Mommy?

Plutus runs an auction that includes Thor's hammer Mjölnir and the demon tablet. Many powerful entities visit the auction including the prophet Kevin Tran, his mother Linda, hunters Sam and Dean Winchester, god Mr. Vili, demon Crowley and angel Samandriel. During the auction, Mjölnir is sold to Mr. Vili, but Plutus is not pleased with the prices offered for the tablet so he has his assistant Beau include Kevin as part of the sale to draw higher prices as Kevin is the only one capable of reading the tablet. Mrs. Tran offers her soul in order to save her son and Plutus agrees as she is sacrificing everything she is for this. He also rejects Crowley's offer of a million souls and his own since Crowley doesn't have one. When the time comes to make the deal, however, Sam and Dean realize Crowley is possessing Ms. Tran and he reveals he made a deal with Beau who has betrayed Plutus. At that moment, Beau stabs Plutus through the back with a wooden stake, killing him.
