Phillip was the long time butler of Bunny LaCroix. Outside of Bunny and Bobby Singer, he was the only one to know of Olivia's existence. After Bunny's death he took pity on her and released her from the attic, hiring her as a maid so she could hide in plain sight.
After the death of his employer -- Bunny LaCroix -- Phillip is preparing the mansion for Bunny's family who are arriving for the funeral. He orders Olivia to clean the bathrooms, while giving Colette the task of picking out Mrs. LaCroix’s wardrobe for the burial. When Colette is accidentally killed, he covers up her death claiming she was too distraught after Bunny's death and enrolled in a clown college.
When Sam and Dean arrive to pick up Bobby's inheritance, Phillip quickly takes them to the side and hands them an envelope. Not wanting the Winchesters to spend any more time than necessary hanging around Bunny's family, as he saw them as "money grubbing leeches" and the Winchesters are too good to be around them. After Sam and Dean go to pawn the necklace that was bequeathed to Bobby, only to find out it is worthless and actually a key, they return to the mansion in the wake of the death of Stanton. While investigating the murder, Dean finds out that the key opens a door to the attic, up there he finds Olivia, who claims that Phillip had locked her in there for not wanting to lie to Detective Howard about what she saw. When Dean finds Phillip in his quarters, and begins to question him, Sam enters the kitchen, where he finds Phillip’s dead body with a knife sticking out of his back. Dean receives a text from Sam: “Just found Phillip. Dead.” And when Dean turns toward "Phillip" he is thrown across the room. As Dean gets back up, he sees the pile of clothes and skin by the door, revealing they are dealing with a shapeshifter who turns out to be Olivia.
Olivia explains that she killed Phillip because he turned on her, and locked her back up in the attic, after the murder of Stanton.
