While captured and strung up in a cabin with her husband Corbin Tilghman, Sam and Dean arrive and fight and kill their werewolf captors. During the fight, Sam is shot by a werewolf, and while Dean attends to him Corbin attends to his wife's wounds. When Dean attempts to leave them with Sam, while he goes for help; Corbin tells him there are more werewolves and the four decide to take their chances in the forest. The four soon come upon a ranger station, while Dean wants to make sure Sam is okay, Corbin insists they keep moving as Michelle is sick and Sam is slowing them down. When Dean decides he is going to build a stretcher for Sam and get everyone to safety, as Michelle is resting in the corner Corbin takes it upon himself, for the sake of his wife, to smother Sam as he and Michelle will not make it without Dean's help. Michelle wakes and comes to find an apparently dead Sam, who Corbin tells her Sam is dead. As Dean mourns over Sam, headlights flash through the windows, while Dean wants to stay and fight the werewolves, Corbin talks him into to coming with them.
When morning comes the trio reach the road and flag down Sheriff Ben Anderson, who takes the three to the Urgent Care Center. While giving a statement, Corbin attempts to down play what had happened while Michelle insists on telling the truth that they were captured by werewolves. Later, Michelle pays a visit to Dean who is recovering from his injuries. She thanks him for saving them and tells him something he Mom used to say, "death is not the end." Those words give Dean an idea, Michelle follows Dean into the hospital dispensary and tells her he needs to die in order to talk to a "crazy, scary death machine." Michelle tries to talk Dean out of it, but steadfast, Dean tells her to get Dr. Kessler and if he can't be revived, there are no hard feelings. Once Dean hits the floor from the overdose of drugs, Michelle rushes out to get help, while Dean lies motionless. Michelle, along with Sheriff Anderson help Dr. Kessler try and stabilize Dean. Once he is revived, Sheriff Anderson places him under arrest, but Dean is quickly freed by Michelle.
Hearing Dr. Kessler's scream, Michelle and Sheriff Anderson rush to her, as Michelle checks on Dr. Kessler's prone body, Sheriff Anderson is impaled by Corbin's arm. Corbin then attempts to calm a panicked Michelle down, telling her he didn't want this, but she will see how it feels and they can be together forever. Before he can get close to her, Corbin is jumped by Dean. As Corbin gets the upper hand and begins choking Dean, he is suddenly shot in the heart with a silver bullet by Sam, killing him.
In the aftermath, Dean sits with Michelle, she asks about Sam and tells Dean that Corbin wasn't a killer. What he did, he did for her. Dean understands and goes on to tell her how things will eventually go back to normal for her. With tears in her eyes, she tells Dean she doesn't know where to go after seeing the man she loved die. Telling him that, "There's no normal after that."
