History
In May 2001, Matthew Hammond backed out of his driveway and ran over his neighbor, ten-year-old Elizabeth Duren, while drunk. Elizabeth died from her injuries, and Matthew never got over the guilt. After the incident, Matthew got clean thanks to support from Alcoholics Anonymous at the Dearborn Outreach Center. He lived in apartment 1036 on the tenth floor of the Mercury Apartments building[1] in Dearborn, Michigan.

Matthew is clean from alcohol for 10 years, until one day he goes to a bar and almost drinks, but is stopped by a friend. Soon after, Osiris kidnaps him and puts him on trial for his lingering guilt. After being found guilty, he is killed by a ghost car in his tenth-story apartment. Prior to this, he had paid three years in advance for a florist - Jane's - to deliver flowers to Elizabeth's grave.
