Maeve is Marie's right-hand man as the St. Alphonso Academy's drama department rehearses for Supernatural: The Musical!. After Mrs. Chandler storms out when Marie and Siobhan get into a fight about Siobhan's lack of enthusiasm for the play, they continue rehearsals. When Maeve leaves, she notices Mrs. Chandler's car still in the parking lot and alerts authorities.

A few days later, they're rehearsing "The Road So Far" when Maeve notices two men—Sam and Dean under the guise of FBI agents—dressed in suits enter the auditorium and alerts Marie to their presence. Marie runs to them eagerly, Maeve following close behind. When Dean complains that there is no singing in Supernatural, Maeve counters that the version of Supernatural they're doing as a musical is specifically Marie's interpretation.

Getting back to the point of their visit, the boys begin to question Maeve and Marie on Mrs. Chandler's disappearance. Sam asks if they have any idea where the teacher would've been heading that night and Maeve answers "A bar? Or a liquor store? Both?". Marie goes on to explain that Mrs. Chandler was going through a divorce and had developed an alcohol addiction. Dean sarcastically says that he doesn't blame her, having to oversee this musical. Maeve is upset by Dean's words and almost attacks him before Sam jumps in to asks her for a behind-the-scenes tour.

As Maeve leads Sam on a tour of the tech room, Sam asks if she's noticed any strange noises during production. Maeve shows off her sound equipment in a dead-pan answer to Sam's question. Just as Sam is about to bond with her about his time in tech during his theater kid days, Maeve touches her headset and listens intently before telling Sam she needs to sign for a delivery, asking him not to touch anything, and heading off.

Later that night, after Marie witnesses Maggie being hauled off by a scarecrow, Maeve brings brings her tea in the auditorium. After Marie explains what happened with Maggie to Sam and Dean, Sam confesses to them that he and Dean are the real Sam and Dean Winchester. Maeve and Marie instantly burst into a fit of laughter. Marie tells them that The Supernatural Books are works of fiction, and Maeve chimes in to tell Sam and Dean that they're too old to be Sam and Dean and would fit more of a Bobby Singer/Rufus Turner combo.

Dean, irked, calls Maeve 'Little Miss Sunshine' before explaining to them that they're hunters and Sam asks if the scarecrow from the musical is based on the one from the books. Maeve infers that they're suggesting the scarecrow that took Maggie was created by the play. Sam and Dean then get Marie and Maeve up to speed on Tulpas. As Dean and Marie go off to burn the scarecrow prop in the boiler room, Maeve stays behind to do some research with Sam on the flower found at the crime scenes.

After Sam and Maeve discover that they're not hunting a Tulpa, but Calliope, the goddess of epic poetry. Calliope's M.O. is to eat the author of a work after their vision is realized. Maeve works out that the only way to destroy the scarecrow is to kill Calliope.

On the day of the performance of the musical, Maeve tries to calm a hyperventilating Marie down as she freaks out about possibly being Calliope's victim after the play is complete. Later that night, during the performance, Maeve is busy with her duties as stage manager. When Dean is fighting the scarecrow onstage, she shouts orders into her headset to "strike the wendigo set" and "prep the priest costumes" before telling a nearby girl to get understudies into hair and makeup.

After Sam defeats Calliope and Marie defeats the scarecrow, and the intermission begins, Sam follows Maeve to the wings to say goodbye. She advises him and Dean to take off before anyone begins asking questions, just like Sam and Dean in the book series. She then thanks him for saving her friends and tells him he'd make a good "Dean" if he cut his hair a little.

At the end of the play, the cast does a rendition of "Carry On Wayward Son". Sam and Dean watch from the wings and spot a character they don't recognize. Sam questions Maeve on who it's supposed to be, and Maeve answers that the character is Adam Milligan and reminds Sam and Dean that he's still in Hell, in The Cage, with Lucifer.

Once the play is over and Marie is receiving compliments from audience members, Maeve runs up to her and tells her that the ticket Marie reserved for the publisher has been claimed. Maeve takes Marie's flowers for her and lets Marie go greet Chuck Shurley.
