Episode(s) 5.03 Free to Be You and Me

Lindsay meets Sam when he takes a job in the bar she works in. She is intrigued by him, but he reveals little about his past. Finally he discloses that he "made some mistakes, (I) did some stuff I'm not so proud of, and people got hurt." Lindsay assumes that Sam, like her, is a recovering addict.

Some hunters find Sam at the bar, and ask for his help in hunting the demons in the area, but Sam refuses. After the hunters are attacked by demons, they return, having taken Lindsay hostage because they want him to drink a vial of demon blood and wipe out all the demons in the town. Sam defeats them and they leave, releasing Lindsay unharmed.

5.03 Free to Be You and Me

Lindsay is interested in Sam, who is going under the name of Keith. She tries to get Sam to tell her about himself, but he is reluctant and finally Lindsay challenges him to a bet of sharing life stories over dinner if she wins a game of darts. Sam agrees, to get her off his back, and promptly wins the game quickly.

Later, a trio of hunters who know Sam walk into the diner, calling Sam by his real name. Lindsay questions him about it, and he claims Sam is his middle name. Lindsay is sceptic, but Sam quickly hurries the hunters away to a table.

It seems Sam eventually agreed to the date, as Lindsay and Sam are talking over dinner. Sam gives her some vague information about being in business with his brother and having done some things he's not proud of.

The hunters return, taking Lindsay hostage and threatening to hurt her if Sam doesn't drink their vial of demon blood and wipe out the demon nest that killed their friend, Steve. They force Sam to admit in front of Lindsay that he started the Apocalypse. Sam refuses to drink the blood, but has it force fed to him by Tim. He spits it back in Tim's face and proceeds to badly beat the two hunters, who release Lindsay and leave.

  • There was a deleted scene where Sam and Lindsay have sex (Source). This is why he is not initially startled when he wakes to see a blonde woman in his bed, (who turns out to be an illusion of Jess), next to him. A fragment of the sex scene aired in a promo.
