Fred Jones was a known contact to John Winchester, who lived outside of Salt Lake City, Utah. Both Sam and Dean remember him giving them their first beer before they were in "double digits." He was psychokinetic and is currently resident at the Sunset Fields Retirement Home in Oklahoma City.
8.08 Hunteri Heroici
Dr. Mahoney has been using Fred Jones to help steal from residents of the nursing home. As Fred, who is psychokinetic, has retreated into his mind with the encroachment of dementia. Dr. Mahoney has been able to use the fact that Fred's mind is making manifest elements of cartoon world psychics to commit robberies. Once he fears he will be discovered he plans to do one last job at a bank, and then kill Fred.
Dean intercepts him at the bank. After Sam and Castiel bring Fred back to reality, he manages to cause Dr. Mahoney to shoot himself. Back in the nursing home, Fred fears that as his mind deteriorates he will again be unable to stop affecting the world around him with his mind. Castiel agrees to intervene by taking his powers away and also stay with Fred for a few days. Beethoven's "Ode to Joy" plays as Fred smiles, lost in a world of his own, but peaceful.
